Sutton made a Play Doh pizza that looked almost good enough to eat! "I kidding!"
Our new refrigerator came equipped with an ice maker, and the directions advise you to throw out the first batch of ice it makes. The boys were all too happy to help dispose of the ice in the most boy-like manner possible. First they took turns stomping it and crushing it, and then an all-out ice battle erupted...
...and there was lots of ice being put down each others' shirts and pants! I manged to get in the line of fire as I was taking these pictures, and I ended up with a huge chunk of ice down my shirt!
Holly and I marbled paper using the directions at Frugal Family Fun. We had intended on setting it up as a project for the kids, but they were more interested in playing in the new sandbox, so we pretty much did the entire project by ourselves. Oh well - we had fun anyway, and the results are BEAUTIFUL! I'll definitely be trying this one again with Sawyer at a later date.
I picked up some colorful paper clips last time I was at the dollar store, not knowing what I was actually planning on doing with them. Sawyer remembered that we had a stack of laminated color cards in the school cupboard, so he dug them out and started to match the colors.
Sutton did really well with this too - he's especially enjoying matching activities these days.
I also picked up a couple of new sun hats at the dollar store. Despite his expression here, Sawyer is really loving his new hats, and I'm glad that I finally found something he'll keep on his head to keep the sun off of him (he was just irritated at me here because I was making him wait to eat his lunch until Hattie got there!).
We've spent a lot of time at the park lately! It still amazes me that Sutton and Hattie can climb everything so easily now - they've grown up so much since last summer!
Mitch taught Sawyer how to play the monster truck game on the computer. Sawyer immediately beat Mitch's high score LOL!
I picked up this mini spin art maker for $2 at Michael's, and Sawyer had a blast making miniature works of art. He actually loved it so much that he used up all three of the little bottles of paint that came with it the very first time we used it!
Saw's spin art masterpieces (which will likely be used to decorate blank greeting cards for all the birthdays we have coming up!)
The boys picked out some flowers and terra cotta pots at Home Depot, and then we painted the pots with their favorite colors. Sutton's is yellow, orange and white.
Sawyer's is purple, white and pink, naturally. I don't think I've ever met another little boy who loves pink as much as he does! :)
In the end, their pots matched the flowers that they had chosen, although we didn't even think about that when we were picking our paint colors! We still need to get some more potting soil to properly plant them, but you get the idea.
Sawyer and I used the Model Magic clay that Aunt Debby bought him to make some "dinosaur fossils." We squished balls of clay and then pressed the toy dinosaurs into them to leave an impression.
When our fossils are all dry we're going to bury them in the sandbox and let the boys go on a dinosaur dig. I thought about painting them so that they blend into the sand better, but I think we'll give the bright colors a try first!

Crocky is yet another item I picked up on my last trip to the dollar store, and he has been growing in our kitchen for the past four days while we've carefully documented his growth. I'm sure that with the amount of photos we've taken over the past few days that Crocky may just get his own entire blog entry in another day or two ;)
