Friday

Sawyer and I had a nice day spending some one-on-one time together today. He's really starting to notice when our attention is divided between him and Sutton, so it's becoming more and more important to give him some special time. We woke up and took Sutton to daycare, and then met Holly and Hattie at Panera for our usual Friday pre-gymnastics (aka "Nackicks") breakfast. At gym they had a new bigger trampoline, so he was actually pretty attentive, focused and into class today, which was nice.

Mitch left his cell phone at home this morning, so Sawyer and I went down to Carmichael to his job site to take it to him. We picked some cherries from their tree, and Sawyer played in a old beat up playhouse they have in the backyard for awhile before we went to see Gigi and Auntie Jessica. Jess is now 5 days past her due date! They have scheduled an induction for next Friday the 6th, but she's hoping and praying that she'll go into labor on her own WELL before then.

It was pretty warm outside, and I'm still getting over my cold, so we spent most of the afternoon playing indoors at my parents' house. Sawyer is always SO well behaved and polite when we're there! He really likes playing with things that involve a lot of small motor skills, and this afternoon he was having a good time sorting all of Gigi's seashells. We just got home, and he's just now finally passed out for an afternoon (evening!) nap. I really had a great day with him :)

Sac Zoo & Fairytale Town

Today we took the boys to the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town. We started out the day at Fairytale Town where the boys got to see a lot of farm animals up close and personal (they both really liked the donkey and the bunnies), and where Sawyer got to run around the Crooked Mile and go down a couple of the slides that I remember being there when I was much younger. It was funny to be there for the first time as "Mom"...I could definitely feel myself chanelling my own Mother every time I started to freak out when Mitch let Sawyer climb up these huge slides all by himself - eeeek! I guess I should be glad he didn't inherit my fear of heights, but it certainly made my stomach drop and my heart race every time I'd see him near the edge high above my head! We finished up at Fairytale Town playing in the pirate ship and some of the newer areas that I hadn't seen before (like the big playground in Sherwood Forest - I remember when that area was the most boring part of the whole place!). Then we headed over to the zoo where we ate lunch and watched the giraffes, tigers and monkeys for awhile before Sutton finally hit his limit and we decided to call it a day.

Unfortunately, Sutton and I have both been fighting nasty allergies these past few days, so neither one of us was really too much fun today. The parks were lovely, but there were just so many different plants and flowers in bloom that it seemed to make us both feel worse by the time we came home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's really just allergies for us both...it's starting to feel more and more like a funky cold :(

On another note (for those of you who might be wondering!), today is Jessica's official due date, and there's still no sign that my new niece, Stella, will be born any time soon. Poor Jess. I remember being SO ready to have these boys, and I never even made it to within a week of my due date with either of them!

Back to the Park!

Today we decided to take Sutton to the park that Sawyer and I discovered last Friday. Sawyer and Sutton both LOVE to swing, and luckily the park was nearly empty so they were able to monopolize the toddler swings for quite awhile.





There is a really cool balancing teeter totter that the boys really liked playing on with their Daddy. Sutton is only 5 pounds lighter than Sawyer, so they were pretty evenly matched and had a blast bouncing up and down. Then Mitch took his turn bouncing Sawyer up as high as he could go...what a fun Daddy!





There's also a pole swing that spins around all the way at a crazy angle. I bet they'll love it when they're older, but neither one of them really got all that excited about it today lol.



One more trip on the swings before we headed home...

New Blog!

After unsuccessfully trying to keep up with adding new photos and whatnot to our family website, I've decided to make the switch over to a family blog instead. It'll be much easier for me to just sit down here and type out a quick entry and add pictures and videos than it was for me to find the time to sit down and do a complete website overhaul every month or so. Anyway, welcome to our new blog, and here's to hoping that this is something I can manage to keep up with on a MUCH more frequent basis!


We wanted to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out last month to celebrate Sutton's first birthday with us! Some of you traveled from quite far away to be here, and we REALLY appreciated seeing each and every one of you! I bought some really cute thank you cards for everyone, but things have been so busy around here lately that they're still sitting on my desk - sorry! Thanks again for making his Candyland party a smashing success! I'm sure most of you have already seen the pictures, but if not, here's a few of the highlights...






















Sawyer and I enjoyed the nice weather on Friday and went on an adventure trying to find the best park in the area. We had lunch and then had a blast playing on all the new toys we discovered. Sutton has been cutting his one-year molars, so he's a little extra clingy and crabby these days. Poor kiddo isn't getting as much sleep as usual, so he's been content to just sit around the couch and cuddle up with his stuffed friends and watch a movie. One thing both boys have been loving lately is their inflatable shark pool (thanks Gigi!). The weather here is really starting to warm up (aside from the strange cold weather we're having this weekend!), so we've been spending a LOT of time playing in the water.
