Time Out For Mom

Yesterday was one of the craziest and hectic days I've had...and it was especially exhausting since I had to run up and down flights of stairs about 50 times while lugging around all this extra weight in my mid-section (thanks, baby boy!). We woke up at 5 am to start setting up stuff for our garage sale, and by noon I was driving the boys down to spend the night at my parents' house so that I could head over to set up the school fundraiser auction that I co-chaired. All those lost hours of sleep paid off though - the garage sell went relatively well, and the auction was more successful than we had hoped it would be (and SO much fun too!). I couldn't even fall asleep when we got home despite the exhaustion because I was on such a high from all the fun and the great auction items that we won and got to bring home with us (my favorite is a new organic vegetable container garden in an authentic wine barrel...which actually reeks of red wine lol).

This morning Mitch woke up early to work a side job, so I took advantage of the fact that the kids were still with Gigi and Granddad and slept in until my achy pregnant body couldn't handle laying in bed anymore (which, sadly, was only 8:20...still better than 6:30!). The house was eerily quiet with no one around, which rarely happens much these days. I brewed some of my new Teavana tea (the best tea ever - check them out!), and sat down with the last donut from yesterday's pre-garage-sale pink box and read the entire newspaper without a single interruption. It's funny how something that was once so normal and routine just a few years ago becomes something to savor once you don't get to experience it as often anymore. I finished my "me time" by giving my toenails a new coat of vibrant red paint, and then raced off to pick up the munchkins. My time-out was fabulous, but I couldn't wait to see their smiling faces and hear all about the fun times they had at their sleepover. Today has definitely been one of those great days that you wish didn't have to end ♥
