Holiday Sparkle Parade

Tonight our family walked in the city's Holiday Sparkle Parade with some other families from Sawyer's school. It was really cold this evening, so we ended up being a smaller group than we had anticipated, but everyone still had a lot of fun. One of the moms brought jingle bell bracelets for all of our kids and bags of candy canes to pass out to other children, and another mom had a bunch of santa hats for the kids to wear, which was great because I completely forgot all of the festive headwear that I had picked up for the boys at the dollar store - oops!

Our boys didn't nap today, so it was a good thing we brought the wagon for them to ride in - Sawyer was zoned out lol! We decorated our wagon with battery operated Christmas lights, but I forgot to add the glittery flag banner that the boys and I made this morning - the one that was supposed to cover up all that ugly black Gorilla tape (can you tell I'm still sick? I forgot everything today!).

Sutton loved the fact that there was a whole crowd of people watching him and waving at him. He kept sticking his tongue out like he does when he's really trying to concentrate :) Sawyer held on tight to his bag of candy canes and refused to get out of the wagon to go give them out to any of the other children watching the parade. At the end of the night he said, "No kids wanted to come take any of my candy from me. Oh, rats...I guess I'll have to eat it all." SO funny!

Santa rode by us on a horse drawn carriage, and the boys were excited when he waved to them.

It was a good thing we had all those leftover candy canes! Peppermint hot cocoa is totally fabulous (and so are these adorable little kid-sized mugs that I bought the boys at Ikea a few weeks ago!)

The boys wrote letters to Santa - I think if you click on the photo it will make it larger so you can read them. We sat around the kitchen and talked about the holidays, and every now and then they'd tell me something that they wanted written in their letters. I think they're hysterical, especially when Sutton tells Santa how much he likes apple juice mixed with water, and when Sawyer seems to try to bribe Santa at the end with an excessive amount of goodies ;)

At the end of a long day, there's nothing like building a rocketship and launch tower by the fire with your Daddy
